Manual needed Edo-Aire RT-557 Transponder
My 1973 M4 Maule has an Edo-Aire RT-557 transponder. This model sits in a standard 3 1/4" instrument hole. Most of my flying is in isolated areas with no need for Mode C. However, there are times when I do venture into the Big City. I would like to add an encoder to the RT-557, but have been unable to find a manual or any other info on this model.
Anyone out there with info, I would sure appreciate it. I'll gladly pay for a photocopy or any other help.
Thank you.
Glenn

Re: Manual needed Edo-Aire RT-557 Transponder
I replaced an obsolete encoder with an ack encoder recently. the king transponder had the terminals listed on the insider cover. The ack came with directions for its side of the terminals. The information was enough to wire it correctly. Open it up and look! Rc
Re: Manual needed Edo-Aire RT-557 Transponder
Thanks to all that responded and helped with information. I managed to find a service manual for an RT667 that has the same pinout info. Now I can "legally" fly into the BIG CITY airstrips. By the way, they wrecked their grass and had to replace in with asphalt. Gee, and I worry about dandelions...

Copies of the Edo-Aire RT777 Instruction Manual or Maintainance & Technical Manual are $39.00 from <http://www.esscoaircraft.com/category_s/1586.htm>.
ESSCO carries manuals for just about every airplane and piece of avionics equipment ever built.
