172 fuel tanks for sale
Re: 172 fuel tanks for sale
JR,
I just did a similar mod on my 172M. Went from 150 to 180hp and went from std to long range tanks. The long range tanks for your aircraft are 54 gal total. They are L-shaped instead of square and require modification of the fuel compartment in the wing. Since your aircraft model is already approved for that wing configuration with long range tanks, it does not require major paper work. The wing is made to be a 'long range wing'. If you have some good mechanics close by talk with them about the work.
Re: 172 fuel tanks for sale
I do still have the tanks. There are a few pieces of piping that go with them but I don't remember now which pieces. The fuel drains, filler necks, fuel level transmitters, etc can be transfered from your existing tanks whether they are std or long range tanks.
Re: 172 fuel tanks for sale
Joe, Sorry to be so late replying to your message. I have been out of touch for a time. The tanks will work for 172N and newer. They changed the configuration after the 172M to a dual fuel outlet instead of the single outlet found in the earlier models. That is the reason I have the tanks. The tanks were actually installed and used in a 172M for a year but had to be removed to remain legal. As you prbably know, if anyone is looking for long range tanks from a salvage center or similar they will run 600-1000 each. I just want to get some of my money out of them and get them out of my hanger.
Re: 172 fuel tanks for sale
Hello,
My name is your name as I just did a Google Search on my name for fun!
While I used to be a pilot, I would have never responded to buying wing tanks for a 172, as I do not have one!
Your email is exactly the same and I am wondering what the deal is?
Can you tell me a little about your self and family? Where are you located (where do you live) and anything else about relatives etc would be greatly appreciated.
The Rabkin name comes from a very small village in Russia, which is where many Rabkins come from originally. My grandfather came to the US before the war, and I am 2nd generation American.
I will be amazed if you have the same exact name and email address! Something just is not right and I would like to get to the bottom for both of our sakes!
Let me know.
Best Regards,
Steve Rabkin
