Low time Lycoming, ready for retirement??

I'm looking at a plane that has the Lycoming O-320. Has been upgraded to a 160 HP per Ram STC with chrome cylinders. 150 hrs SMOH. Heres the kicker, the overhaul was performed in 1992. The plane has always been hangared so the engine wasn't in direct contact with the elements. Runs great with the all the compressions in the high 70's. Man that had the plane only flew it about 15 hrs a year.
Should I expect troubles with an engine that has been treated like this?
My A&P and I are going to do a prebuy on it tomorrow, I trust his judgement, I just would like a few other opinions.

In '86 I bought a '68 skylane with 1400hrs total time on it (O-470-R...1500TBO).  It had been flown once in the previous year and very little for the two years prior to that.  It had been tied down outdoors since '72 in San Jose Ca.
I had a leaky exhaust valve two years later & OVH thay cyl.
In '93 I OVH the engine with nearly 2000hrs on it.
I think I've been very fortunate to find this particular plane.
I'm not suggesting going against anyone's recommendations.
This was just my personal experience.

I have a 1956 C172 with a Continental O300.  My engine was overhauled in 1967 and todate only has 700 hours on it.  The previous owners did not really fly it much but it was hangared for most of it's life.  The only engine work I've had to do in the 10 years I have owned it is replace the genrator with an alternator (the genrator worked fine, I just wanted an alternator instead) and I've had to replace one cylinder because oif a crack that developed at the base.  The mags had had a little bit of work done over the years but nothing real major or costly.  Not to suggest that you will have as good of luck as I have had but I've been fortunate.  Oh yeah, my compression is in the mid to high 70's.

Well my A&P did a pre-buy on the plane and found nothing to worry about with the engine. It looked as if it was installed last week. The entire plane was in great condition.
I put a deposit down on the plane and will pick it up next week.....I cant wait to get it!

Hi,
I bought my 1962 C-182 in 2000. It had 1204 hrs total time,AF&E.
It had periods of time where it sat in the hangar without being flown. It has served me well in the 3-1/2 years I have owned the aircraft. Things can happen, but you should be ok.

I have a c172m with a replacement ram 0-320-D2G engine fitted STC SA2375SW I am having difficulty getting C of A as it came from iceland which although JAA is not EASA until later this year. Need an EASA approved STC for this mod. Can you help?
