C-172K door handle (inside)

I am a first time plane owner and had the passenger side door handle fall off after 3 months of ownership (1970). The handle is stripped out and went into sticker shock at the price of a new handle ($279). It is temporarily replaced with a junkyard handle from a van. Was wondering if there is a place(s) to get used parts for reasonable price or other suggestions. Thanks!

Several years ago I got a Cessna part from a aircraft salvage yard in Washington. Their name was "Okanogan" or "Omak" Air Parts or something to that effect. If an internet search doesn't find such a place pick up a copy of Trade-A-Plane. It's a great source for just about anything you could possibly want related to aviation. I'm sure there's a junkyard or two advertising in each issue. In fact the part I got was a Cessna door handle for about $20.

I've dealt with Wentworth in MN and Surprise Valley in CA, in the past.
Both were easy to deal with on the phone.

The place in Omak went out of business years ago. A good place for parts is Discount Aircraft Salvage in Deer Park Wa. The phone no. is 1-800-826-4771. I have gotten parts from them before. The prices are reasonable and they will ship anywhere. Best of luck!

Thanks for the responses. Just had a window latch break, too. (headaches of an older plane!) So am working with some of these outfits for used parts. Appreciate the help!
