Rudder Springs

Rudder Springs

On my 1958 172 the rudder is stuck to the left. A&P said one of the springs is probably off. I can't find them. He said up front under the floor board but I don't see them there. Any help?

Re: Rudder Springs

they attach to the nose steering at the strut. If you look under the belly, you'll see two canvas boots where they pass through the belly skin. They attach to the rudder pedal torque tubes inside, under the floor panel. The springs are inside of a cylinder.

Re: Rudder Springs

You have a broken rudder return spring. Better get it to the shop where an A&P can replace it for you.
