Problem with 61’ 210 fuel system
Problem with 61’ 210 fuel system
Problem 1
After I bought the plane, I noticed fuel leaking out the left vent tube during flight.
Solution 1
After some investigation by the mechanics, it was discovered that the left fuel bladder was not fully connected via the top fasteners. The tank was too rigid to reconnect, so a new bladder was installed.
Problem 2
After the new tank was installed, I went on an extended flight, and found that the left fuel level gauge showed full even as the tank was nearing empty. After landing, I found that the fuel bladder had sucked up, holding the float up, as if there was no venting occurring.
I had the mechanics look it over, and I myself performed the fuel vent check procedure that is described in the service manual. I found that the left fuel vent tested correct, so, to be safe I tested the right fuel vent and it tested as if it was blocked.
I next measured the vent placement, and found the left vent slightly high. We adjusted its placement according to the service manual.
Is anybody familiar with this situation? Causes? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
