C172 Door Catch
Re: C172 Door Catch
The best fix is an inexpensive kit called "Sky Catch" that attaches to the original Cessna strike bracket. It is simple to install, has adjustable springloaded grip tension, and is corrosion resistant.
They're $34.95 per pair postpaid, from Romilly W. Traves, 5555 Columbia Road, Medina, OH 44256. Phone (330) 723-2778.
I installed these on my 172 several years ago, and am extremely pleased with them.
I can e-mail the instruction sheet and photos of my installation if you're interested.
