Cessna interior panels

Cessna interior panels

Plastic interior panels for Cessna are very weak and very easy to break specially the plastic door panels. Few months ago I bought the Cessna 150 and I made all interior panels from carbon and fiberglass. The door carbon-fiberglass panel I cover by upholsterer textile with foam made the interior doors nice and strong. Weight of interior panels is less then plastic panels.  It is very easy to replace broken plastic panels by carbon-fiberglass panels. Your Cessna will be with nice looking interior.

Re: Cessna interior panels

How did you make the carbon-fiberglass panels?  You should post a photo on the website.

You are right - the plastic panels are junk.  I just replaced all the interior plastic panels in my 1974 206 with fiberglass panels made by Slekirk Aviation in Coeur d'Alene Idaho.  They are very stout and attractive.  I also replaced all exterior plastic fairings with fiberglass ones made by Stene Aviation.  Superior retrofit!

Re: Cessna interior panels

Bob is right . . .  I would like to explore this option for my 150 and we all ought to get on Selkirk Aviation to expand their line into the 150 products.  They have an attractive 170 retofit that irritates me because they came up with it after I sold the 170!

Re: Cessna interior panels

I own and operate a Cessna 172 (N) here in England and I would like to renew my interior panels.
Can anyone tell me how I can contact Selkirk or Stene Aviation and do they make panels for the 172.

John.  Manchester, England

Re: Cessna interior panels

Halcomp Inc. in Toronto is ready for production of carbon-fiberglass interior panels for C-150. Now company finished all molds for panels and in December will start production line. My Cessna with carbon-fiberglass panel looking nice, the pictures will post on web site of Halcomp probably next week. Same options: carbon-fiberglass panels can be covered by upholsterer textile, textile makes about 0.5lb heavier of panel. All information will be available on web side next week, what I know; the prices of panels are same like plastic panels, time of delivery one week. Phone number for Halcomp is (416) 663 4113.

Re: Cessna interior panels

I dont know why when I explore interior pannels I can't find replacement plastic instrument panel covers for my 1964 C 150D. Does anyone know where I can find these replacements. Thanks, Dick

Re: Cessna interior panels

I just installed a new panel in my '60 172A. You probably won't use the same size or same placement as the original, so nobody would make a standard cover panel. I made my new panel of 2024 aluminum and bought a paint to match my color preference. In my case I used a can of spray paint with the effects of hammered copper. It's very sharp! I used brass acorn nuts to hide the shock mount posts. I can send pix if you'd like.

Re: Cessna interior panels

What would a ballpark price be to convert a 1974 172m dash, to the modern metal dash /std. 6 pack configuration and with metal switches and std. modern radio stack configuration? Is an STC required? thanks, David
