`66 172G yoke replacement
Re: `66 172G yoke replacement
Robert,
Warren Gregoire and associates offer leather custom fit covers for all years of Cessna Yokes, with integrated PTTs, for $250 per yoke. I just got them for my '63 and they look great, with no expense of installation.

Re: `66 172G yoke replacement
I am looking to purchase the newer Ram Horns yokes for my 1966 Cessna 172G. I have been looking all over the price trying to find these yokes at a fair price. I have even broken down and considered keeping the orginal yokes if I can find covers that are not as expensive or more than the Ram Horn Yokes. If anybody want to sell or can refer me to sell I would greatly appreciate it.
THANKS
Re: `66 172G yoke replacement
For what it's worth, I own a 1964 172E and just installed a pair of rubber slip-on grips that have integrated PTT's. They were a pain in the butt to slip on, but it was worth it.
It gave my older ram horn style yokes a whole new modern look and they feel great! I paid $119.56 for four grips (for two yokes and two PTT). If you order them without the integrated PTT, they cost $63.55. It's a cheap alternative to buying new yokes. I ordered these through "Texas Aeroplastics" 817-491-4735.

Re: `66 172G yoke replacement
I managed to replace my 1966 square yokes with new modern ram horn yokes.
I was considering getting the old yokes repainted, etc so that they will look like new. However, if you would like to redo them yourself, please advise.
If any vintage Cessna collector needs original yoke please contacted me.
Thanks.
Re: `66 172G yoke replacement
I have been trying to locate a pair of the rams horn style for my 65 172. It is my understanding or should I say I have been told by local A&P examiner that you cant just exchange parts such as these without the part having a PMA. Any thoughts on this out there?
Re: `66 172G yoke replacement
There is a Cessna SL that allows the replacement of the plastic control wheels with certain metallic wheels.. SL 64-B. 1960 through 1964 aircraft.. I believe.
Just about anything other than that will need a DER to evaluate and sign off.
Thanks
Larry
