directional gyro replacement
My mechanic tells me that a replacement dg for my cessna 172N has to have a PMA or STC for that model. Are there any dgs that have this other than the cessna replacement dg? I would like to replace it with the Sigma Tek 4000HR-1 which has a reference marker. Thanks

Try this site:

you can get answer to your question from Sigma Tek.
What your mechanic is most likely referring to is panel tilt degrees for gyro mounting, and a specific part number.
