Avcon Conversion
I was hoping one of your members may be able to help me. I own a 1968 Skyhawk 172 I with an Avcon conversion (180 hp. lycoming and C/S). The fibreglass nose cone on my cowling which I believe formed part of the original kit has deteriorated over the years. I have attempted unsuccesfully to contact the Williams who owned the original STC. The easiest way to fix it would probably be an aftermarket replacement. Would anyone know of source manufacturing these? Otherwise my only othe option would probably be to try and repair the existing nose cone which would likely involve considerable labour. Any suggestions? George Fleming RR1 Mount Albert Ontario Canada.
Re: Avcon Conversion
Repair of fiberglass is prity easy. I have repaired several over the last few years. If you are having troble finding some one to do the work check out boat places they do fiberglass repair. and then get the repair inspected.
We have an Avcon conversion and have nevewr had a owners hand book maybe you could help us out with this. A copy of yours would help a great deal.
Thanks
