I use the same type of product used on convertible windows. It is like a wax but fills in the pits and scratches. No glare problems in the sun. Bugs are easier to clean off also. I learned about this from my neighbor who has a prestine RV-8. Sorry, I can't recall the product name.

Lemon Pledge is great - and cheap.
DON'T use Orange Pledge! It does not do a good job and actually adds a slight bloom to the windshield.
Lemon Pledge temporarily fills the scratches - and it does a great job, but to actually remove the scratches go to your Harley dealer and buy Novus Scratch remover - works like a damn!
