How do I determine price for C172M?

Hi all,

I am wanting to sell my 1974 172M. I have upgraded engine and avionics to the point that it is practically new except for the airframe. TTAF 2280, TTE 200 180 hp AirPlains conversion.
I know what I have put into it but how do I determine what it is really worth?
Any help would be appreciated,

Hi Eric

I have used the AOPA Vref aircraft evaluation service, free to members. It is pretty good but gives you a number that is a bit high.

I also use the NAAA evaluator from trade a plane which I find pretty good too, it tends to give you a reasonable to a low ball evaluation.

In addition, I look through Trade a Plane, Controller.com, and several other internet advertising sources to see what equivalent Make/model asking price is.

Considering data from all 3 sources I come up with a price, starting high then reducing as needed to make the sale.

A lot can depend on how much in a hurry to sell you are.

Just my opinion.

As part of your membership dues, aircraft valuation services are available to Cessna Owner Organization members at no charge. We complete these valuations for aircraft that our members are considering selling, as well as prospective purchases.

We use the current Aircraft Bluebook Price Digest data to determine estimated value, which I believe is the exact data source that the folks at AOPA use.
