G1000
G1000
Does anyone know when Cessna is planning on upgrading the G1000 for XM? The upgrade was supposed to be released during the 4th quarter 2004, then delayed until March 2005, now its the middle of May, and no upgrade.
XM was a big selling point and I've had my 182 since last July so I'm getting impatient and wish Cessna would communicate something.

Re: G1000
HI John. I bought my 182 in July too. The last I was told was that the update is supposed to be installed in june. But as you know June is almost here and no notice at all. Any others problems with your plane? I just had to have the transponder reprogrammed. Could not put any codes in.
Re: G1000
I began having problems with the PFD "jumping" to the right. It it would stop jumping when I switched to dual PFD mode and then after a few minutes I could switch it back. I finally took it to a service center and they have resolved the problem. Of course this was after both screens went black in IMC. I think they replaced the AHRS unit.
I flew it on a long X-country this weekend and it performed flawlessly.

John, saw you posting about PFD problems. Thought I would share my T206 woes. Delivery in OCT 04. I have about 200 hrs on it already. PFD replaced 3 times, AHRS replaced, #1 GIA 63 replaced, turn cord for AP-140 replaced. It can not fly a coupled ILS approach. Always flys right of course with the error getting worse as you get closer to the airport. This one has everyone stumped. Have you had any more problems?
Re: G1000
Our problem seems to be resolved. I flew to Midland in May and then to Lubbock this weekend and no problems at all. I think we have finally gotten the PFD "jumping" problems fixed. I think they had to replace the AHRS.
I hope you get your situation resolved because I know how frustrated I was and I'm sure you are at wits end.

Re: G1000
My partner was flying it one afternoon and both screens went black. That was about three months ago. That's when we replaced the AHRS and havent had any problems since.
Another problem we had was if the plane wasnt flown for 5-7 days the battery seemed to discharge and we had to get it jumped started. Apparently it was a bad battery. We replaced the battery and havent had any additional problems.

Re: G1000
End of July now and still NO XM Wx upgrade for the glass cockpit. It's been a year. Anyone have an update?
Also, alternator on the blink, again. I've already replaced one and have another replacement ordered. Anyone else having alternator problems? I was told that it's a Cessna thing..they have a QC problem.

Re: G1000
Got mine installed on my T182T, two weeks ago in Arlington, TX (Van Bortel). XM radio is great, the weather portion is even better. A few problems though: 1. Any break on the intercom, and you get XM muted out for the duration. 2. Of course any radio chatter, dido. 3. The system also has an Auto-mute in the terminal area, so now tunes on approach unless you reach over and un-mute the thing. 4. Also he newest software load, which enables XM support, has the wind vector barb turned off by default. U gotta turn it back on by pressing the Menu key on the MFD, scrolling down and re-enabling it.
