help with 300a autopilot
help with 300a autopilot
Okay I need some help in finding the right instruments to go with my Cessna 300 AP it turns out long before I got my plane the previous owner had to replace some of the instruments and it seems it was all of the ones that connect to the AP. My avionics guy verified that all the plugs were neatly tied back and I have the wrong instruments. My goal is to find the right ones and get the ap working again.

I can not answer your question about instruments but I have a complete 300 for sale , if you need parts I have all of the servo's and boxes. I sold the cessna befor I could instal it . I will be glad to give you a great price if ;you are interested.

Did you sell the autopilot? Mine is broken, and not yet diagnosed, but I could be looking for some parts. Maybe I could buy the whole thing--price?

Hi, if you still looking, you need a G-502A or possibly B directional gyro (unlikely). The b model is slaved. Then you will need a G-300A rate gyro. I got mine from aircraft quality instruments, they were happy taking my old ones as cores. But if you have good 'cores' you may be better selling those. There are other options, like a NSD360 HSI, but that requires some modifications to the autop[ilot computer. I have a Cessna autopilot book if you are interested. Don

I too, have a used Cessna 300 auto pilot that was removed from my 1977 182 and it worked well It was a single axis and I will sell at a good price if you are interested.

Hi Shaun,
You may not need to replace all of your instruments previously removed. Reading your post indicates to me that when the instruments were removed previously the connectors were capped/bagged and stowed and all new wiring was run to these instruments in question. In some cases, it is possible to re-incorporate the old wiring harness with the new. If the indicators that you have now have outputs to drive an autopilot and your autopilot is looking for the same type of signal on it's input pins, then all you need to do is remove the appropriate wires from your cap and stowed connectors and incorporate them into your functioning wiring harness.

I am currently looking for a used Autopilot for a 1962 Skylane. The panel was completely redone in 2005 by Cheif Aircraft. I lack the $15,000 dollar needed to buy and install an S-Tek autopilot. What is an affordable alternative for this aircraft?
