KX-155 squelch

KX-155 squelch

My KX-155 has developed a lot of static which comes shortly after a transmission or reception. It is fine when ATC or I am talking frequently but after a moment or so in the passive mode it will begin loud static. Is there an easy way to adjust the squelch for this or is it a repair shop job? Also just lost the last digit in the frequency window of the standby frequency. I know that is a shop job. Is it a big, expensive job? Thanks.

The volume knob pulls out for squelch adjustment or volume and then you push it in. Are you aware of this? The standard rate is about $69.hr. The faceplate does go bad with the readouts. A ballpark figure is about $120-200.

I had already checked all the knobs etc so I took the radio in to the shop. The light bar has to be replaced for the standby com frequency readout and the 'board' for the com side also needs replacing. The avionics shop says these parts are not available new but that they have parts from other radios. Does anyone know if this radio is now obsolete!?!? Parts not available from the factory!?!?

If this is true does anyone know of a slide in replacement for the KX-155 which would prevent me from having to re-wire for a replacement radio? Thanks.

looking at the King webb site it shows KX 155 as a current item. Have you been dealing with a King dealer?
