I am planning a trip from Albany, NY to San Francisco, CA via airways taking me through Akron, OH, St. Louis, MO, Tulsa, OK, Lubbock, TX and then threading my way through on the airways to Palm Springs and Salinas and north to SF.  I would appreciate any advice you could share regarding such a trip, with particular emphasis on pitfalls.  I am IFR rated with a very well equipped (2 year old) 172SP which I bought new.  I do not intend to fly at night, and will simply wait out any seriously bad (icy, extremely turbulent or otherwise risky) weather.  Hoping for some good advice.  Thanks.  Donald A.
