I have a new (2 year old, bought new) 172SP (N289SP) which is fully IFR equipped and with autopilot.  I plan to take a trip from upstate NY to San Francisco via the airways from Albany, NY to Akron, OH, to St. Louis, MO, to Tulsa, OK, to Lubbock, TX then (essentially) following Route 10 up into California and on to SF (San Carlos).  I am IFR rated, but have high personal minimums and will not fly this route at night.  Any advice from you who have done such a trip - or part of it?  Anything to watch out for in the SW portion in particular?  Any stops to avoid?  Thanks for good advice.  Donald Ross  (518) 275-7347  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
