Removing my old ADF
Removing my old ADF
When I had my 1968 182 panel upgraded last year, my airplane lost 26 pounds even after getting a new Garmin and backup Narcos. I should have removed the old Bendix ADF then. But I am ready to do it now myself. I am an A&P but can not find wiring diagrams for this particular installation. Can anybody help with what to look for or if there is a 337 requirement for a complete removal or can it just be noted on the weight and balance and log book? Where is the power supply for it typicaly? this is a 182L. and the radio has a tuning dial instead of the specific ADF frequency selector. I have a feeling the airplane will start floating and will need to be tied down tighter after I remove this old radio. I'll miss the Baseball games in flight though....
Re: Removing my old ADF
removing the boat anchor is not a major modification so no 337 is needed. you will need to wiegh all the stuff you remove and fill out a new weight and balance as well as update the equipment list for the airplane.
as far as I know the ADF is just antenna, cable, power and ground wiring. this should be simple enough to figure out by tracing the wires from the back of the radio.
