Amerex Fire Extinguisher (Portable);Model 344; Depleted Bottle; ATA 2622
This fire bottle was found completely discharged and its nozzle assembly loose. The inspecting technician describes the unit’s valve threads as being corroded and the o-ring seal deteriorated. Improper valve torque was offered as a possible cause for these discrepancies. (Two accompanying photographs are shown below. TheAmerex web site: http://amerex-fire.com/main.asp contains excellent information--especially under the“Distributor’s Corner,” on the home page, then select “Technical Tips.” Their discussion makes very clear the specifications for servicing these bottles--specifications not complied with on many units returned to them.)
Part Total Time: manufacture date of 1998.
