“The Aero-Trim Model 400 trim tab has been installed on numerous general aviation aircraft rudders or ailerons.

The written installation instructions in many cases did not specifically require the control surface to be checked to ensure it is properly balanced once the modification was installed.

“The Atlanta Aircraft Certification Office recommends any control surface with an Aero-Trim Model 400 trim tab installed be checked to ensure it is balanced in accordance with the aircraft manufacturer’s maintenance
instructions, unless previously accomplished.
