Cessna 206 R-Stol
Cessna 206 R-Stol
Hi,
We are operating a C 206 equipped with R-Stol Kit in Namibia. I would be grateful for some information from pilots who have some experience with this equipment and also we are looking for some original handbook data in order to ammend our handbook accordingly, as this was not possible until now.
The airplane is flying nicely, but also I always have the feeling when going out our airstrip fully loaded on a warm day that the controls are feeling very soft, maybe this is also because I am not yet used to this equipment and so it is quite strange hearing the stall warning all the time after take off until finally having some decend airspeed. It is strange looking at the speed indidicator and seeing figures like 60 mph with 20 degrees of flaps and the African bush just rushing below you after you had left that odd airstrip.
Happy Landings

Re: Cessna 206 R-Stol
Kimberly,
It is not normal to constantly hear the stall horn on during climb out in a Cessna 206. Between that and your comment on the controls feeling 'very soft' when fully loaded sounds like you are flying the plane out the rear CG. This is easy to do if you load it up to max gross weight without using a cargo pod. With the CG out the rear, your elevator control will be very sensitive, making it easy to overcontrol the airplane.
