The goal of the "digital" change is to minimize the bandwidth required to send audio and video TV signals. That will free up some broadcast frequencies that can be assigned by the FCC for use by other communication purposes. I have not heard any discussion about any changes to the aviation bands. Believe it or not, the FAA tries to be cautious about changes that would lead to expensive changes to equipment. (ok, so ADSB might be an exception)
I doubt that any major transitions will take place any time soon. If and when they do, they will likely be incremental.
