182 RG left undercarraige
182 RG left undercarraige
Hello, I am Dennis Morris from the UK and I own a 1978, 182RG G-BOWO. The finest 182RG in this country. On the 6th October 2007 the aircraft had a failure of the left landing gear retraction/extension unit. My engineer has been trying for four months to order and replace the broken part (part number: 9882015-1) and has contacted 16 different companies that all say they haven't got one. He says that after this model the undercarraige unit was changed and the new part will not fit my 182 RG. Could anyone tell me what can be done, i.e. where there is a second hand part available? or whether the new part would fit my 182?
Regards, Dennis Morris
Re: 182 RG left undercarraige
I would just like to mention on the subject of the later version of this part fiting or not; that the nose wheel of my 182 RG was broken in an accident several years back and the new nose wheel which was fitted was different to the orignal. I believe it was modified to be slightly stronger than the original but this was fitted with no trouble. This is why I am surprised that the modified main undercarriage unit will not fit my 1978 182.
The problem I have is if the new part won't fit my aircraft and I can't get a replacement for the broken part, then the aircraft cannot be repaired, ever! I cannot believe that this is the first 182RG to ever have had a broken main gear retraction unit.
Please post any knowledge you have of the 182RG's gear.
Re: 182 RG left undercarraige
I have spoken with my engineer and he has informed that we don't need the whole actuator, it is infact an internal part a "pivot assembly" that needs replacing. He tells me the part number is: 2241114-3
Apparently they are no longer made so he can't repair the old actuator. Can anyone help on this issue. Again: are they available from anywhere you know? Can the old actuator be repaired?
Re: 182 RG left undercarraige
I have a 1979 182 rg that developed a brakefluid leak from the pivot assy. It looks like it is coming from behind a bushing that is in the front of the actuator. No diagram shows this bushing and it looks like it may be pressed into the front of the actuator. The leak is so slow that in 2 months the fluid is down only 1/8 in in the canister. I can not find anyone that can tell me how this bushing is in there. We contacted Cessna and they were no help. We don't want to disassemble the pivot assy until we know what is in there. The diagram we have show everthing but this bushing.

I am the owner of Two 182RG's with cracked Gear Actuators. Part # 9882015-1 or -4 for the new style. Do you have any ideas where they can be purchased? If I can't get them I have two $100,000 Cessna airplanes that are not flyable. Cessna has two of them but I need three to get my airplanes flying again. Please help me.

Re: 182 RG left undercarraige
Premier Aviation shows they have them in stock, but are $9,000 each for new. You might want to check Dawson or Wentworth for salvage parts. I bought the RG last summer and am now concerned about the availability of affordable parts based on many of the postings. Would appreciate hearing back from forum members at to whether they were able to obtain parts and where they found them.
