!72 Performance Modifications Evaluation
Several issues ago, you featured an article that proposed to assess the performance realizations of commercially available modifications to the Cessna 172. The plane was outfitted with instrumentation to allow correlation of airspeed, fuel consumption, etc. against individual enhancements (vortex generators, gap seals, ...). I've not seen followup articles and wonder if this study is still ongoing.

Re: !72 Performance Modifications Evaluation
Hi Lee;
I thought that would be a very good series of articles as well but I had trouble with the first one as there was a whole lot of data but it wasn't clear what the results were. I am guessing a lot of other people, and maybe even the author as well, was having trouble interpreting the data as there were no more articles after this one. It has to be difficult to control all the variables in an evaluation of performance products, as it was clear from the first article that changes in temperature, pressure, etc., affected the results and made it difficult to show a clear advantage with one product over another. I guess that is what Aviation Consumer is for.
