Audio failure in headsets only
Hi,
I have a c-182 experiencing audio and com issues the hardware includes a King KMA 24, Dual King KX 155B's and Intervox 4-Place Intercom w/Music Input. The problem seems to be with incoming transmissions (ATIS,ATC) i cannot here them in my headset but communicating with co-pilot or passengers is not an issue. Transmitting is no problem but the only way i can receive outside transmissions is by turning on the cabin speakers by the way this is happening with both radios. It was suggested that my head set might have been switched from stereo to mono so i used three different headsets in all 4 places with the same result. Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated. One more thing i don't believe it is related but my Century HSI was also inop this morning along with the com issue.
Re: Audio failure in headsets only
If you turn the intercomm off, or to a fail-safe position, can you hear the audio in the headset? If not then the headset audio amp in the KMA24 is probably bad. There are two seperate circuits, one for headset audio and one for speaker audio. You could also have a broken wire, but not as likely. If you can hear the audio with the intercomm off or in fail-safe then the intercomm is your problem.
