I own a Cessna 414A model and was ramp checked two days ago at the local airport. My airplane just went through an extensive annual, but the FAA inspector found two items which he found to be unairworthy and grounded my airplane. Like a lot of Cessna 400 series aircraft, the fiberglass/plastic wingtips are cracked. The airplane has been like this for many years and every mechanic has found it to be airworthy. There is nothing in the Cessna manuals to repair plastic and new ones are special order only and take 9 weeks to get made. Has anyone had this problem and had them fixed? Any thoughts on how I can have them repaired in compliance with the FAA? Please any help or suggestions!
