FAA to Restrict Flights over Pro Bowl

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will establish a Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) surrounding Dolphin Stadium for the Pro Bowl game on Jan. 31, 2010. The FAA is enlisting the media’s help to let the public know about the flight restriction so that private pilots do not unintentionally cross into the area of restricted airspace. Military or law enforcement aircraft may intercept aircraft that violate the flight restrictions.

The TFR will cover three nautical mile area surrounding Dolphin Stadium from the ground up to 3,000 feet, from 6:30 pm until midnight.

Public safety and emergency aircraft operations including medevac, firefighting, law enforcement and military flights may operate in the TFR.

Private pilots may not operate an aircraft in the TFR unless authorized by air traffic control. Pilots must receive a discrete transponder code assigned by an air traffic control facility, and must tune their aircraft transponder to that code before departing and at all times while in the TFR and must remain in two-way communications with air traffic.
