G1000 question for the 182T 2004
Ok guys here’s a question for G1000 users and hopefully someone with some history in 182T’s
When I start up my volts (Main bus B) read 28 which is correct and my amps read between 0 and +1.5 This is with everything powered up (MFD/PFD) ready for take off at approximately 800-1,000 rpm.
After I take off my volts read 28 but my amps go to –0.5 It stays there the entire flight. I have tried loading the system – Landing lights on for example and nothing changes.
I have read the POH trying to find out if this is “normal” I have found where it says at start up you should have between 0 and +1.5 positive amps but kind find no where what it says when you are in flight.
I would not say the plane is a super started as far as spinning the prop but generally cranks fine as long as I set everything correct (i.e. don’t flood it)
Any thoughts would be very helpful.

I cant quite make out what all of the numerals on your picture of the MFD. Fortson, if I understand you correctly your amps are showing -.5 amp discharge, after you leave planet earth, and have no change in draw with additional load. This does not seem correct to me, as you should be at the same 0 as just before take-off. Your battery is probably nearly or completly recharged by the time you taxi to the end of the runway. I dont have a wiring diagram, but would be willing to suspect that there might be something wired into a weight on wheels switch, but that also seems unlikely, since you didnt indicate that your plane had a retractable gear. I would begin to look at the voltage regulator, and your alternator, and all associated connections and verify that they are tight. If you can try to note the instant that the amp starts to draw negitive or go + charging (ie. during rotation, while landing, ect...). If you can isolate the systems and notate the time that it occurs it will help your mechanic, and should save you $$ in unnecessary troubleshooting.
