Skylane 182Q fuel delivery problem
Skylane 182Q fuel delivery problem
With full tanks and selector on both, no fuel drains from the right tank on pretty much a straight and level flight.
On another occasion, with much less total fuel, and while doing right hand turns in a hold, the right tank filled to top with fuel from the left. Seems like a one-way valve has developed in the rubber line or maybe the selector valve.
Has anyone ever heard of this ? Local FBO is scratching his head ! Denis,

Yes. If you go to the Cessna Pilots Association web site, they have a writeup on this and other quirks with the 182. It has to do with the placement of the cross-over vent line, and the most important thing to note is that it is actually feeding fuel from both tanks. At some point the fuel level will be too low on the left to feed fuel through the cross-over vent line and it will even out. I have a 78 182RG had have the same experience. Hope this helps.
