WTB Cessna Panel retainer nuts - plastic buttons

WTB Cessna Panel retainer nuts - plastic buttons

Anyone have a source for those small plastic button-shaped knobs that hold 172 panel covers in place. The ones I have are female thread, 8-32 thread. Anyone have any suggestions for a better solution....better way to secure these panel covers? THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY LEADS OR IDEAS !

I'm trying to think....which panels are you referring to? Memory lapse is not treating me well, as I cannnot think of a button type fastener with female threads.

Aircraft Spruce sells acorn nuts that will work. They are brass but can be painted black. The original plastic nuts have a shoulder that helps position the panel, but I don't know if you can get those from any where except Cessna. The part number I have is 1513174-X (X is the color number). There is also a part number 0413613-1-279 for some models. I usually get Cessna parts from IWantCessnaParts.com. Hope this helps.

Thanks. Found some small black plastic radio knobs at the aviation dept of my local hardware store...slip an 8-32 screw into the drill press, screw on the knob, get it spinning and use a fine tooth file to shape it any way you want in about 15 seconds. Easy to make a dozen matching in no time...they look great and work better than the other knobs I've seen.
