Source for high quality 172 airframe parts
Paying stupid tax today...backed my airplane into a toolbox...bent the LH horizontal stabilizer...possibly repairable but probably needs to be replaced. Would be grateful for any leads or suggestions for source for LH elevator to fit 1977 R172K.
Re: Source for high quality 172 airframe parts
Whoops...At least your not the first to do this, nor will you be the last!
Replacement will be hard to come by, but try some salvage yards ie..wentworth, dawson, global aircraft. Otherwise there might me a option of getting it from Cessna, but will probably have at least a 30 day lead time. I think your best bet is to remove it and send it to a repair facility. Not only will it likely be much less expensive, but it will likely be done in a week or two. Dont know if your plane is ferriable, but that could be a option too, if you think you could safely fly the plane to them for repair. Most places will repaint it too, unless you dont want that, or have a polished plane. Good Luck!
Try these places for repair:
