Question on wing lights
Greetings,
I have a 1968 C172I and I noticed there are lights under each wing that I presume are courtesy lights to prevent shin balks and such while entering and exiting the aircraft. As they do not appear to work, I replaced the bulbs and they still do not appear to work. To be of value I would expect there would be a manual switch somewhere in the cockpit but I do not see one nor do the lights come on with any of the electronics. Can anyone shed some light on this feature and how to turn them on?
My thanks,
Ron
Re: Question on wing lights
Hello Ron;
My C-182RG has the switch on the door frame behind the pilot's seat. I had a 1968 C-172I years ago, and to the best of my memory the courtesy lights worked off of the same switch as the dome light. A wiring diagram would help you locate it for sure.

Re: Question on wing lights
Hi Ron;
Here is a wiring diagram for the dome/courtesy lights from my 172 service manual. Hope this helps.
Jon
