Lyc 0-360 High EGT
My Cessna 172M has a 180 h.p. Penn-Yan conversion with 730 hours since new. My JPI has been showing about a 70 deg difference in EGT until last week. Now it is showing as high as 180 deg difference. Cyl #1 is around 1505, #2 & #3 are about 1435, and #4 is about 1330. Mag drop is normal on run-up, all CHT's are about 370 in cruise. Also, the EGT's mentioned are at full rich and about 75% power. If I reduce power and have less airspeed for cooling, the EGT actually goes up until RPM's are below about 2000. Any advice will be appreciated. Cole Flournoy, Shreveport, LA
Re: Lyc 0-360 High EGT
Try swapping egt probes with another cylinder and see if the problem follows. If it does, you have a bad probe, if not you need to investigate that cylinder further. Also check all the baffeling, to make sure that the proper airflow is taking place inside the cowl. Take it to a mechanic and have him t/s it.
