Best Panel Mount GPS
Re: Best Panel Mount GPS
<HTML>I have the 430 and except for a learning curve( intense at the front end ) , this unit is outrageous for situational awareness. I was lucky that the previous owner had just installed it before I bought the plane,eg. 1977 Hawk XPII. I still have a lot to learn about it. I am working on getting my instrument rating and in the new FAA Instrument Flying Handbook, they are finally realizing that gps is the future for enroute, departures, approaches in IFR, etc.
I really do feel comfortable leaving on cross-country flights with that in the dash. I also have a Garmin 295 on the yoke as a backup. AOPA ran an article about what to have as backups on cross-country so I paid the extra price for the color 295 which has the same size screen as the 430.
Regards,
