'61 182D oil leak mystery

<HTML>This may wind up being a multi-part question/posting but for now I'll stay with one.
There is an orificed fitting on the air/oil separator. Is this fitting for oil drain back to
engine or vent line to underside of airframe?</HTML>

<HTML>The Air/Oil Separator typically has 3 lines.one is the crankcase breather line(about 1/2 to 3/4 inch),and would generally go in on top,the outlet is the same size,and will go out the bottom of the separator,and continue to the underside of the belly.The third line(orficed fitting) is indeed the oil return line to youre engine.
In my case(0-200A) the return line connects to a fitting on the accessory case.</HTML>

O-470-L The specs say 12 quart plus 1 for the oil filter. Anyone have a lower
number that the engines seem to settle down to...say 10 quarts?</HTML>

<HTML>I had a 1959 C182 w/0-470N and 10 quarts was a good number, as it seemed to throw out two quarts quite fast.
I now have a 1961 C 182 with brand new 0-470-R with 40 hours on it and it seems to stay about 11 quarts. I don't think there is any set figure on this.</HTML>

<HTML>My 0-200 will also make a quart disappear rather quickly,it WAS 2 quarts before the air/oil seperator(fantastic piece of equipment)..........Tailwinds</HTML>
