Re: FRANKLIN CONVERSION
<HTML>Kurt
I live in Cheyenne Wy, elevation 6100' an operate off off a 1900' grass strip with power lines fairly close at both ends. I used to own a nice 1960 172 with a Horton STOL on it. In the summer time when it is hot it is not unusual for the density altitude to climb above 10,000'. There were therefore many days I could not fly. I now own a 1960 C-175 with the Franklin 220 in it and there is never a day I can not leave very safely at gross. It is a very worthwhile conversion.
I like the Franklin so well that when mine reached TBO rather than overhaul it I bought a new one from Franklin Engines in Fort Collins, Co. and will use the old one in a RV-7 I am building.

Re: FRANKLIN CONVERSION
<HTML>Franklin does not do the conversion installation so an A&P with experience installing the Franklin kit would be a good source to talk with, maybe even give the job to. I'm interested in this conversion for my 172H, but am afraid of the pitfalls of trying to get this conversion done "in the field".</HTML>
