<HTML>Engine vibration is checked with special equipment when you have your propeller dynamically "balanced". Call your favorit prop shop, IA mechanic shop, or repair station and ask them for a recommended person to perform the balance. When the prop is balanced, so is the entire rotating mass of the crankshaft, camshaft, etc, because of the dynamic method. (This is usually performed with a Chadwick/Helmuth machine, or an "ACES" machine. I personally prefer the ACES system.</HTML>

<HTML>When props are manufactured/overhauled, they are balanced on the workbench while not in motion (i.e., static balance). Dynamic balancing means "in motion". A prop is dynamically balanced while the engine is running at cruise RPM. The prop is not removed during the process, in fact, if ever you remove the prop after a dynamic balance, in theory at least, it should be dynamically balanced again. Call your prop shop/repair station. They will help you for about $150 or so.</HTML>

I spoke with my "prop shop" last month about scheduling an overhaul for the prop on 26G,Since were going to have it Overhauled this fall,that would be a good time to do it whilst the bird is grounded....The prop shop advised that IF I had them do the Overhaul,they would give me a "break"on the balancing.
My A&P advised me that I should wait for around 30 hours after the major before flying over to have it done.Mid-America Propeller in Wynne,Ark said the whole thing would be around 300.00.This includes the Overhaul,and subsequent balance on the aircraft(which according to them takes about 45 minutes).</HTML>

<HTML>Hello my cyberspace friend,I kinda wondered about that myself.The Cheif mechanic at my FBO(OLV) mentioned this fact last time we talked,and he eluded to something about "Break-in" and having this accomplished after about 25 hours.
My personal opinion is the same as yours,If something does change,Id suspect youd have a major problem on youre hands!</HTML>
