Congrats on the new hangar,I finall got into one at my FBO(AWM) and just in time,there have been storms her with hail around 4 inches in diameter.
The plane has been outside all her life,and she just seems to be happier all tucked away in a dry,and no sunlight environment.Concerning the eyelet,Id suspect it will be fine to use it for pulling the plane in.You MIGHT however want to look into one of those gas powered thingys.Ive got a buddy that has a 172 in his hangar,the ramp is uphill,and he,d get a hernia doing it by hand himself.They use the 100LL from the preflight sump check in the engine,and from what I can tell its run just fine forward AND reverse.

I would not use that tie down ring to pull the plane into the hanger.
You would probably do better to get and old garden tractor or golf cart and use a tow bar to move it into hanger if you MUST have a power assist. You will then have a vehicle to use around the airport also.

I believe that Cessna makes (or used to make) a tow adapter, for towing banners and gliders.  I have no idea what it costs.

My first plane (C-150) had a hanger for awhile.  The hanger had a winch.  At first I thought it was pretty cool but found that the winch wouldn't steer the plane.    It always wanted to  turn one way or the other. It was quicker and easier to just use the tow (push) bar, even though there was a slight uphill going into the hanger.  I was much more ignorant then,  than I am now.  I guess I was fortuante to have caused no damage.  I think my 182 has the same tiedown ring as the 150 but it also has a lot more weight to it.

Perhaps one may be able to make an adaptor so you could attach the winch to the front strut, in combination with the towbar?  Steering would CERTIANLY be an issue....so would backing the tail section into the rear of the hanger!

Congratulations on your hanger!!   I'm jealous!  If I could afford one here, I could also afford a new quality paint job every 3 years!!

I took a piece of one eight by three quater by three inch metal welded a small chain link to it.chain link three sixteen inch diameter by about one and half inch long. put a quater by half bolt through fairing bracket at rear .[wheel fairing removed.] put a small hook on end of winch rope. on each main gear.I stand in front holding tow bar to guide plane in to hanger.I have switch to winch moter in one hand tow bar in other.takes less than two mintues to pull into hanger.cessna 172

Bryan, $65.00/month is incredibly inexpensive. Count your lucky stars.

I pay $226.00/month for a county owned T-hangar at North Field-Oakland, CA.  Privately owned T-hangars that are rented out go for $400.00/month (there's a shorter waiting list for those that are privately owned than for those the county owns).

I have not checked on hanger prices for several years.  The last time I checked they were over $400/mo.  A few months ago, I heard talk about the city trying to raise them to around $700.
If I could afford hanger rates here, I could consider a new paint job to be "just a new color" and change it every three years or so...

Maryland Airport 2W5.  17NM from the White House, inside the 30 mile ADIZ (what a bummer)
$60 month tiedown.  shared quonset style hangars are $200 older enclosed T's are $225 and neither have electrics.  New large T hangars with lights and electric folding doors are $300 a month.
The waiting list for a hangar may last for years.
However many people are moving their aircraft outside the ADIZ for the convienence of being able to fly.  Numerous people have gone flying outside the ADIZ and then have not been able to get back in because the powers that be would not answer or their flight plan was lost.   
PRAY FOR US LOST AIRMEN and make the ADIZ go away

Congrats on your hanger, I just recently had my 172-L painted. I keep her on my private strip (150' x 3000') grass where she has been tied down for about 15 years or so.  I began building a hanger (50' x 60' metal building) while she was at the paint shop. When the paint work was completed I brought her home and tied her down beside the location of the new hanger.  At the time all I had completed was the pad dirt work and the conc. slab was poured.  I new it would be a while before I could erect the building due to work commentments. I had a funny feeling about leaving her there for about a month so I rented a T hanger in Eufaula, AL w/power on a monthly basis for $85.0 per month on the shady side of the complex. Guess what !! we have had three hail storms here in two weeks, that just goes to show always listen to your gut feelings...

I sent the pic in yesterday, but they have not posted it yet...It may be to ugly to post.... but you know what they say, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.. I call her "Qebec" and she is the 1972 172-L with a yellow tail, robertson STOL, and full IFR.
