Starter on cessna 175 leaking
Re: Starter on cessna 175 leaking
<HTML>There are two seals on your starter, and depending upon which engine you have, you may have to have the starter re-sealed. The '62 C175C used the GO-300-E engine and had a right-angle adaptor and you may need to replace the seal in that adaptor as well. Generally however, you will find a large O-ring, and a Garlock-type seal on the shaft will be all that is necessary. Either way, simply contact your AE mechanic or remove the starter and send it to your favorite overhauler. (Mine is Hatfield Aviation, 8109 Braniff, Houston, TX 77019 , PH: 713/644-1464. Bill Hatfield will also simply re-seal or repair as necessary your unit, if that's what you prefer rather than completely overhaul it, which may save you some money.</HTML>
